As a volunteer run organization, we simply cannot run this team without ride leaders! You are the backbone of our program and make a difference in the lives of Utah’s teens! We need 28+ ride leaders every single time we take our team on the trails. We need YOU!
What are ride leaders?
Incredible volunteers who donate their own time to lead small groups of athletes on the trails throughout the summer & fall.
What skills do I need to be a ride leader?
Well, besides a little patience, lots of fun, and someone who enjoys working with young athletes, nothing!
What experience do I need on the mountain bike?
We take ride leaders of ALL skills and levels. We divide our athletes into groups of around 8 kids based on their skill and speed. We need really fast and experienced adults who will challenge our most experienced riders (and trust me, they are fast!) We need patient and slower adults who can guide our newest athletes as they learn to love mountain biking (these ride leaders can even learn right along with the kids and will be paired with experienced ride leaders). And, of course, we also need every level in between!
What training will I receive?
The league provides lots of online training to get you going. Our team will provide CPR/First Aid and On-The-Bike Skills (OTB 101) so you can learn the best practices for teaching and training our athletes. See our training page to learn more about the certifications required.
What kind of time commitment do I need to make?
We hold practice:
Tuesdays and some Thursdays in May 6:30-8pm
Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30-8am throughout the summer
Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30-8pm mid-August through September
Many of our ride leaders make it to almost every single practice. Super stars! But others come when they can, as little as once or twice a month–we know life/work keeps many ride leaders very busy. We’ll be excited to have you whenever you can make it!
Ride Leader Hall of Fame
Our team is only incredible because of the amazing love and time our ride leaders put in! These ride leaders have come out practice after practice, year after year, for four years or more. They have shaped our team. They have influenced many lives. Their dedication is the foundation this team is built on. We will be forever in their debt for their love and their service. Thank you!
