Ride Leader Training

When you sign-up to ride with our team, you choose the level of certification you’d like to receive. ALL ride leaders must be at least level one to attend practice. We need as many Level 2 ride leaders as possible – we can’t hold practice without meeting the minimum ratios.

LEVEL 1 COACH REQUIREMENTS

  • Be 18+ years old
  • Register in the Pitzone.
    • Make sure you are signed in as you, not your racer. We’ll send you an invite to pitzone as soon as you register with our team.
  • Fill out participation agreement in the Pitzone.
    • Pay Coach License Membership Fee – $25 – will be refunded by the team upon request after your certification is complete.  Please submit your request through our expense form.
  • Complete background check (done in the Pitzone).
  • Watch NICA Philosophy and Risk Management, take the quiz.
  • Watch Athlete Abuse Awareness Training, take the quiz.
  • Complete Concussion in Sports Training. Upload your certificate to the Pitzone.
  • Logon to the Pitzone to check the status of your certifications.

LEVEL 2 COACH REQUIREMENTS

  • Be 21+ years old
  • Complete all of Level 1 requirements. Annual renewal needed for:
    • Concussion training
    • Background check
    • Participation agreement and Coach license in the Pitzone
    • NICA Philosophy and Risk Management
  • First Aid/ CPR
  • NICA on the Bike Skills Training (OTB 101) –
If you are already certified and would like to attend and refresh your training, please do! Just don’t sign up if you are certified. Leave those “official” spots for new ride leaders.
  • Do 20 hours+ of field work
    • Many of our ride leaders are brand new and cannot yet complete this final requirement. Please do everything else, and add these hours in once you reach them! You can “earn” any hours you were directly involved with the athletes, including our info night, welcome BBQ, team sponsored athlete parties, and of course, practices! (Not included are the hours spent in training)
